Check a book in store, even offline
Before buying a book, scan it: KikouBook tells you right away whether it is already in your libraries or in the ones of your relatives, even without network.
Scan a book
- On a phone, tap the + button at the bottom of the screen. On a computer, click the scan icon at the end of the Title, author or ISBN field, at the top of the screen.
- Aim at the barcode on the back of the book.
You can also type an ISBN, a title or an author in this field.
In your library
The In your library section comes first, before the results of the catalog. For each book you already know, it tells where it is:
- Owned or Wanted, and in which library;
- Reserved: a relative already plans to give it;
- Reserved by me or Proposed by me, in a library shared with you (marked (shared));
- the series and the volume number, when the book belongs to one.
Tap a line to open the library, for example to see the volumes missing from a series.
Without network
KikouBook keeps on your device a copy of your libraries and of the ones shared with you, updated each time you open the app and its pages. Without network, or when the connection is too slow, an Offline banner tells the date of this copy, and you can still read:
- the home page, your libraries and the ones shared with you;
- the In your library section of the search.
The catalog, adding books, changes and reservations need a connection: their buttons are greyed out. A page never opened on this device shows Not available offline. Back online, tap Retry in the banner.
